Unemployment and Employment Policy

The course examines the multiple facets and types of unemployment and makes the link with the economic theories that explain its determinants and recommend appropriate kinds of employment policy to combat each type of unemployment. It then presents the different kinds of employment policy, discusses their efficiency and ends with an analysis of the European Employment Strategy, its historical evolution and its various components from a theoretical and political perspective.
