Vassilios Betsis

Postdoctoral Researcher

Vassilis G. Betsis is currently a postdoctoral researcher at STADA Lab at the Department of Social Policy of Panteion University of Social & Political Sciences (PUSPS). He holds a Ph.D. in Demography and Social Insurance from the Dept. of Social Policy of PUSPS. He holds a bachelor degree in Statistics from Athens University of Economics and Business and a postgraduate degree in Applied Mathematics (Financial & Actuarial Mathematics) from the same University in collaboration with National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has been working as an actuarial consultant and is a certified advisor by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. He has prepared a number of actuarial studies for social security funds. He has written with Professor S. Roboli the books “The Odyssey of Social Security System” (2016) and “The Odyssey of the Greek Economy” (2018) by Livanis Publications. He has also co-authored with Professor S. Roboli the 7th Chapter of the collective volume “Crisis and Social Policy” (2018) by Topos Publications. In addition, he has published in collaboration with Professor S. Roboli the article “Demography, Economic Crisis and Social Security” in the 11th Issue of the Journal of the Scientific Society of Social Policy (2019) and the article “The Public Health Crisis and the Economic Consequences in Greece and Europe” (2020) in the quarterly Review Social Security Law. His research interests include Applied Demography in Social Security, the effects of population ageing in social security, the effects of demographic variations on the economy, the labor market and social protection, pension economics and quantitative methods for evaluation the economic viability and adequacy of social security systems.
