Gender and Social Policy

The course introduces the students to the notion of gender and gendered power relations, so that they understand the gender dimensions of welfare state and social policy measures. The welfare state is analyzed from a gender point of view as well as the differentiated impact of policy measures to women’s and men’s everyday lives. Critical assessment of the major EU and national policies in the areas of family, labour market, social security, migration, elderly and child care and combatting violence against women.
