Economics of Social Policy

The course examines the theoretical foundations of the welfare state according to welfare economics as well as the appropriateness of the different forms of state intervention (regulation, public goods, taxation, subsidies) in accomplishing social policy goals in the following fields: social security, health, education, social care and housing.
