Gender Equality Policies

The course examines the objectives and the measures of gender equality policies in Greece, the European Union and the United Nations, as they evolved from the 1970s to today. Basic official policy documents (Laws, Action Programmes, Reports on results etc) at the three levels of governance will be critically assessed. Moreover, most important policy tools like positive action in favour of women and gender mainstreaming, will be examined. Emphasis is given to the role of international and European commitments, as well as, to the impact of demands by women’s and feminist movements.
