Basic elements of Sociology

The aim of this introductory course is for students to understand the basic phenomena and institutions of the social world and to become acquainted with some of the fundamental ways of thinking and the concepts of sociology. In this course we will examine different aspects of social life with an emphasis on structures and institutions which are important for social policy such as social stratification, classes, family, minorities, media, ethnicity, social change, industrial society, organizations etc.
