Undergraduate studies

The undergraduate course of the Department of Social Policy aims at the interdisciplinary study of social policy and the acquisition on the part of students of general basic knowledge on the areas of social policy, sociology, social and political theory, social and economic history, methodology, economic theory, law, geography, demography and of special knowledge on particular fields of social policy. In particular, the aim of the Department is to educate students in the fields of social and economic development, social history of Greece and Europe, rural and urban sociology, rural geography, demography and the state or non-governmental intervention at the areas of employment, social security, labour and social relations, income, poverty, combating social inequalities and social exclusion, social rights, gender, education, migration, family, housing and social movements. This is the basis on which the programme of studies is structured in compulsory courses of general knowledge and the more special knowledge selection courses. The duration of studies is four academic years, namely eight semesters.
