European Social Policy

The aim of the course is to explore the role and key aspects of the Europeans Social Policy. It also aims to analyze the content of policies in specific areas, the decision-making mechanisms, as well as the role of the social partners in the European Union. By studying the Treaties and the significant tools the students should be able to understand that the development of the social dimension is a “step-by-step” procedure which continues to evolve. Finally, the course focusses on the impact of the recession on European Social Policy and the initiatives that EU tried to adopt to enforce the social dimension.
