Eleni Prokou

Professor

Eleni Prokou is Professor of Education Policy at the Department of Social Policy of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. She is also a Member of the Collaborating Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University. She completed her undergraduate (B.A.) studies in the Sciences of Education at the University of Athens and her postgraduate (M.A.) studies in Organisation, Planning and Management in Education at the University of Reading – UK. She holds a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Comparative Education from the Institute of Education of the University of London. Her research work and publications focus on the analysis and interpretation of higher education and adult education / lifelong learning policies, with emphasis on issues related to linking Education Policy and Social Policy. She has received the Comparative Education Society in Europe (CESE) Womens Network Prize for excellence in presenting a report on research in Comparative Education. She has served as a Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the Comparative Education Society in Europe, a Vice-President of the Greek Comparative and International Education Society, a Treasurer of the Hellenic Social Policy Association, and she is a Founding Member of the Hellenic Adult Education Association. She has been an Honorary Senior Research Associate at the UCL Institute of Education – University of London and has taught as a Visiting Professor at the Department of Education and Human Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia - Italy.
