Statistical methods in social research

The course is an introduction to the principles, methods and practicalities of the design and execution of sample surveys in social investigations and the statistical analysis of social data. Students are trained in the application of statistical techniques to real social science research questions using the SPSS computer package for analyzing the European Social Survey data. At the end of the course, the students should be able to carry out univariate and bivariate analyses and have an appreciation of regression.
